Ness, the PSI-empowered young adventurer and hero of the quirky Super Nintendo RPG “EarthBound” (aka “Mother 2” in Japan), now derezzed to an ultra tiny 16 x 23 pixel resolution.
A lot of people remark about how my sprites look similar to those from “Mother”, so I thought this would be rather appropriate. : )
Luigi, the lean green high-jumping machine and slightly overshadowed brother of Mario from Nintendo’s iconic “Super Mario” franchise, now given a PixelBlock-styled 15 x 25 pixel resolution makeover.

Little Mac, the legendary boxing champion from classic NES game “Punch Out !”, now given a good ol’ 14 x 21 Pixelblock tribute.
Oh the nostalgia … or should I say, NEStalgia ! Bwaha !
A 100 Dollar Bill, a fairly large denomination of legal tender commonly found in the United States of America, now derezzed to a very blocky 39 x 17 pixel resolution.
Sadly, you can’t use these for buying things. However, you can always print out a couple dozen of them and have an impromptu money shower.

Samus Aran’s famous helmet, now turned into a rather detailed miniature 21 x 19 pixel sprite.
I feel like this would make a rather cool mouse cursor. What about you?
The Mockingjay Pin, the famous symbol of rebellion from the “Hunger Games” novels, now turned into an astoundingly small 23 x 23 pixel resolution.
It’s quite cool, no?

I recreated a few of the assets I originally had, added some visual zing and decided to put together a better, “proper” mockup of a turn-based squad strategy game set in the “Mass Effect” universe.
I’ll be working on fleshing out the concept a little bit more over time, but tell me what you think !
Gurren Lagann, the super-powerful titular mecha from the “Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann” anime series, now rendered in a rather big but still rather small 59 x 85 pixel resolution.

Despite a couple setbacks (I accidentally deleted a large amount of the assets by accident - don’t judge), I present - Mass Effect as a turn-based sprite game !
I took a little inspiration from Mother 3 and decided to mock up a “battle screen” , and despite the lack of background I think I captured the basics pretty well.
What do you think ? I’ve got an “Alternate” version coming up in a few minutes, so stick around !
Here is an alternate mock up of a sprite based handheld “Mass Effect” game, but this time taking inspiration from “Famicom Wars”.
Again, imagine that I hadn’t stupidly deleted half the assets and think about the possibilities…
Imagine a turn based strategy game in the “Mass Effect” universe, where you could make your own team of commando units and fly off to other planets to fight enemies in tiny strategic battles. Add in multiple factions to play as (Cerberus ! STG ! ), persistent character upgrades and levelling, a little character customisation and the ability to pitch your commando squad against others around the world, and you have yourself a little bundle of brilliance.
Seriously Bioware, just call me or shoot me an email. I would LOVE to help make this real…
